Learning Support Practitioner Overview We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Practitioner to provide essential support to students with special educational needs, particularly focusing on autism at the secondary level (key stage 4). This is a temporary role with the possibility of a permanent contract after completing 12 academic weeks. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the academic and personal development of students with special educational needs. Responsibilities Provide individualized support and guidance to students aged 16-18 with special educational needs, particularly focusing on autism, to help them achieve their academic and personal goals. Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students with autism and other special educational needs aged 16-18. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment to encourage the holistic development of each pupil aged 16-18. Differentiate instruction and adapt materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students with special educational needs, including those aged 16-18. Qualifications Prior experience working with students aged 16-18 with special educational needs, especially autism, at the secondary level (key stage 4). Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with supporting students with special educational needs in a school setting. Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills to effectively engage and support students with diverse learning needs, including those aged 16-18. Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the overall development and well-being of students with special educational needs aged 16-18. Confident behaviour management strategies. Must possess a valid enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to pay for a new one. Day-to-day The role involves working from 8:45am to 4pm, Monday to Friday during term-time. Benefits Competitive pay: £85-95 per day (paid weekly).
