A Senior Mechanical Engineer is required on either a long term contract (outside IR35) or permanent basis in the Chorley area.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer role can be worked fully in the office of on a hybrid basis. The role will be working Monday to Thursday (4 days) with Friday, Saturday and Sunday as weekend.
£51.85 Ltd per hour or c£51 - 62,400 per annum plus 25 days' holiday (and public holidays), pension, healthcare, life assurance etc.
Duties for the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
Design and deliver 3D models and technical drawings throughout all project phases, from concept to detailed design, ensuring they meet manufacturing, installation, operational, and maintenance requirements.
Collaborate with engineering teams to define and manage physical, functional, and performance interfaces, ensuring clear communication and effective control of interdependencies.
Develop mock-ups, prototypes, and test rigs to verify and refine design solutions, ensuring they meet project specifications.
Perform initial calculations to guide the early development of designs, enabling subsequent validation by stress analysis specialists.
Work with Stress Engineers to define analytical requirements and identify load scenarios to validate design integrity.
Identify hazards across the product lifecycle through comprehensive design risk assessments, implementing strategies to eliminate or mitigate potential risks.
Produce engineering documentation to support all stages of the product lifecycle, including designs, technical specifications, and compliance records.
Ensure all design outputs adhere to relevant safety standards, including nuclear and conventional safety principles.
Prepare technical documentation to demonstrate compliance with legislative and regulatory standards, including UKCA/CE Marking requirements.
Maintain robust configuration management processes to ensure consistent identification and control of design documentation and 3D models.
Promote the use of value engineering to optimize solutions and stay informed of new technologies that could enhance current and future projects.
Skills & Experience:
Previous nuclear or defense experience
Ideally SC Cleared or the ability to apply for SC Clearance
