We have a vacancy within our Finance Department and are currently recruiting for the role of Assistant Financial Controller. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation.
Shift Pattern: 39 hours each week with a flexible starting time between 07:00 and 08:00 Monday to Friday, with a flexible finish time between 16:00 and 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and on a Friday, a finish time of 12.00. You will be entitled to a 30-minute unpaid lunch break between 12:00 and 12:30 Monday to Thursday. Additionally, you will have a 10-minute paid break each morning Monday to Friday and a 10-minute paid break each afternoon Monday to Thursday.

Role Accountabilities:
1. Leading and developing the transactional finance team, which includes payroll, sales ledger, and purchase ledger. Ensure on-time in full delivery targets are achieved and exceed the expectations of stakeholders.
2. Deliver accurate site Financial reports in a timely manner (i.e., according to the stipulated corporate deadlines). E.g., payroll reports, hours data, cash books, creditors, VAT, various reporting from Gov/HMRC, balance sheet reconciliation, fixed asset register, P11D, P60, RTI, and debtors reports.
3. Coordinate the payroll and associated HMRC/pension requirements, ensuring deadlines are met and errors are minimized.
4. Manage bank accounts, internal controls related to payments and payment deadlines with various stakeholders e.g., pension contributors, VAT, PAYE/NIC.
5. Supporting the transactional side of external financial audit where appropriate.
6. Compliance with pension regulations.
7. Creation and maintenance of accurate costing records for monitoring product and customer profitability, including a robust review of system overhead recovery rates.
8. Review and challenge where appropriate.
9. Manage all processes in relation to cashflow reporting & governance. I.e., suppliers and customer information is being regularly reviewed and sanitized. Point of approval for processing supplier payments and supporting the recovery of overdue debts.
10. Ensure all processes and procedures relating to transactions are efficient and effective.
11. Contingency planning for the Finance Team.
12. Apprenticeship levy compliance, Export compliance against HMRC rules.
13. Provide contingency reports to the site HR function.
14. Support the maintenance of Mitrefinch TMS system.
Person Specification:
1. A minimum of 3 years previous payroll experience for 50+ headcount.
2. Ability to work in a varied role.
3. Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
4. Attention to detail, good quality and accuracy.
5. Adherence to standard operating procedures.
6. Effective communication skills.
IT Skills:
1. E - Microsoft Office.
2. E - ERP Systems.
3. E - Job-specific IT systems: Customer/Supplier/Government Portals, Financial Systems, Banking.
