Band 5 - 37.5 hours per week - Permanent position
We are seeking a lead Theatre Implants Equipment, Prosthetics and Instrument Coordinator who is an enthusiastic, proactive, dynamic member of the team. This is a newly created role that will enhance safe practice in Prosthesis and Instrument Housekeeping within Theatres.
Responsibilities:
1. Loan Kits and Implants for Operating Theatres:
o Raises purchase number (PO) orders for Loan Kits, implants, and bone bank.
o Examine prosthesis when receiving loan kits for theatre cases.
o Follow up and prepare the loan kit from sterile services for return.
o After use, check sets and record for completeness.
o Send back to suppliers with decontamination certificate.
2. Instruments:
o When discrepancies arise, complete incident reports and review outcomes with line manager or senior member of staff, which may require actions including undertaking audits.
o Remove, record, and report damaged instruments out of circulation - send out for repair, sharpening, or replacement to Sterile Services Senior Management Team.
o Report and help arrange new or repaired instruments to Sterile Services Senior Management Team.
3. Equipment Maintenance and Inventory:
o Work proactively with Theatre Leads and MESD to identify equipment needing servicing.
o Organize attendance by suppliers for servicing.
o Order any supplementary stock for management in Theatres.
o Liaise with procurement team concerning missing items and re-stocking.
4. Support the senior members of Management Team (Theatre Leads/Theatre Manager) to assess training needs and supervise Theatre Assistants or other members of staff who are new or learning stock management as part of their roles.
