Role Overview
The IT Support Technician will provide first and second level support to staff and students for a broad range of technologies. Hands on and client focused, with a goal to promote critical thinking with information technology. The IT Support Technician is expected to be enthusiastic, able to work independently and possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT helpdesk, serve as the first point of contact to provide courteous, efficient and effective technical support, training and advice to all Staff and Students throughout the school.
* Assist Staff and Students in IT help including, but not limited to: logging in, printing, accessing network resources, setting up IT equipment in classes and for presentations and basic troubleshooting in a proactive and timely manner.
* Assist teaching staff in the incorporation of Information Technology into their teaching programs.
IT Equipment and Services Maintenance
* Make sure that school’s IT & AV equipment (including but not limited to radios, desktop and laptops) are well maintained and ready to be deployed as required.
* Perform software installations, updates, hardware repairs, upgrades, testing and any other computer, server or network-related tasks as requested by IT Manager.
* Document internal procedures.
* Ensure that Staff and Students follow School’s IT policy and procedures.
* Perform basic repairs to IT equipment where required.
Frontline Support for School and Learning Systems and Services
* Provide front-end support of Synergetic and Schoolbox in relation to students and assessments.
* Keep up to date with skills and knowledge relevant to Schoolbox and Timetabling.
* Keep class rolls up to date.
* Assist answering enquiries in relation to teachers’ timetables, loadings, relief etc.
* Design roll class and timetable layouts as required.
* Perform the mid-year and end-of-year roll-over of classes in the system.
* Maintain assessment areas in teachers’ reports.
* Assist teachers’ report writing.
* Maintain staff and students’ access to the Schoolbox.
* Address Teachers’ enquiries and problems with the system.
* Maintain Concord lnfiniti’s user access and provide system assistance to library management.
* Maintain the Parent-Teacher-Online system and prepare for parent-teacher interviews.
Administrative Duties
* Attend and participate in school open days and school tours if needed.
* Undertake any other reasonable IT duties as requested by the Principal and the IT Manager from time to time.
* Work closely with the IT Manager with a range of projects.
* Plan and execute strategies to ensure all Staff and Student computers and other end user devices are working reliably.
* Manage and monitor school IT environment in liaison with the IT Manager, providing advice to the School’s Budget to achieve curriculum and pedagogical outcomes.
* Report to IT Manager on all IT-related issues including summarising tasks undertaken and progress on outstanding items.
* Experience in using Windows, Android, Chrome OS, iOS, macOS operating systems and Microsoft Office Software Suites.
* Knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell / batch scripting.
* Knowledge of SQL and MS queries.
* Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal.
* Excellent ability to analyse, assess, diagnose and problem solve IT matters within a short timeframe.
* Strong prioritisation and time management skills.
* Ability to work in an open team environment and with other internal stakeholders in a collaborative and supportive way.
Legal Requirements
* Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or be eligible to obtain).
* Have full, unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
There is a 6-month probation period.
