Job summary To Join the Alder Hey portering team providing a porter service including the transfer of patients between wards & departments including A & E admissions, the collection & delivery of goods including medical gases, soiled linen, sharps, drugs, mail and furniture. To provide cover for the waste compound and the Xray porter. to transfer beds, cots & incubators. The operation is 24 hours a day 365 days a year including weekends & bank holidays. The shifts for this post are 07.00am to 15.00, 15.00 to 23.00 and 23.oo to 07.00am. This is a permeant role. This role is 37.5 hours a week Working 5 days over a 7 day period Monday to Sunday. Main duties of the job To provide a portering and messenger service, including the transfer of patients and visitors between wards and departments including A&E admissions to wards and transfers between A&E, X-ray and wards. To collect and deliver a range of goods including, drugs, bloods, furniture, feed bottles, case notes, specimens, x-rays and medical gas cylinders. To collect and deliver mail within the hospital. Assist in the loading and unloading of hospital deliveries incorporating the use of the automated guided vehicles To operate & maintain waste compound To transfer beds, cots, mattresses, furniture, drip stands, pump and other portable equipment and machinery. To ensure safety of staff and visitors. The operation of certain machinery such as the computer and associate soft ware To assist in adhering to the correct procedure regarding the removal of deceased persons. To maintain confidentiality. To attend Trust statutory and mandatory training. Responsible for the safe distribution of controlled drugs according to Trust policy.
