Financial Risk Manager / Qualified Accountant
Salary and Benefits:
£545-55K Basic Salary
Annual bonus – discretionary, generally paid to all staff at a rate of 10% of salary, on a pro-rata basis for every month worked
Holidays – 30 days plus bank holidays
Pension – 15% employer contribution, minimum employee contribution of 5%
Death in Service – 4 x salary

Unify has partnered with a growing Financial Services business who are looking for a full-time Financial Risk Manager to join its Risk & Compliance team.
The purpose of the role is to support the Director of Risk & Compliance to ensure the business has an effective framework in place to manage all financial risks, including liquidity, capital, treasury, credit, and model risk, to ensure any potential issues or concerns are identified and addressed at an early stage.
This is a new role within the team and you will become the subject matter expert for all financial risk areas within the business.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Provide second line review and challenge of key prudential regulatory documents including ICAAP and ILAAP. This will include review and challenge of the calculations and modelling that are used for liquidity stress testing and assumptions used for determining pillar 1 and pillar 2 capital requirements.
2. Provide second line review and challenge of the Recovery Plan, including a review of the modelling of recovery capacity, recovery options, recovery indicators, and their impact in a variety of stressed scenarios.
3. Reviewing financial regulatory returns submitted to ensure compliance with good practice and regulatory requirements.
4. Providing second line review and challenge of budgets and forecasts.
5. Performing regulatory horizon scanning to ensure all prudential regulatory changes are captured and assessed on a timely basis.
6. Reviewing credit risk management information and undertaking thematic reviews into categories of lending which are considered potentially higher risk.
7. Assisting the team in performing testing on the effectiveness of key financial controls.
8. Reviewing monthly and quarterly risk indicator information to ensure accuracy and alignment with required definitions.
9. Ensuring a strong second line of defence; providing appropriate oversight, support, challenge, and assurance of the first line.
10. Evolving, maintaining, and operating a robust Risk Management Framework (RMF) and associated processes.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Qualified accountant and/or an academic background strong on numerate subjects.
* Experience of financial risk management, preferably including knowledge of ICAAP, ILAAP, and Recovery Plans (Not essential - Training provided).
* Knowledge of the key legal and regulatory framework relating to risk in the financial services sector will be desirable (Not essential - Training provided).
* Organised, able to work unsupervised, prioritise own workload and resolve queries.
* Self-starter with a hands-on approach, impressive work ethic, energy, and commitment to delivering results.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
