As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for all engineering design stages of each project, from proposal to completion. You will own the entire scope of work, manage client relationships, liaise with external stakeholders, and ensure the overall success of multiple projects. You will support multiple teams across the business, effectively communicating technical advice throughout the development process.
Key duties include:
1. Managing technical consents and ensuring approvals align with business requirements.
2. Overseeing all engineering designs and identifying constraints or risks.
3. Conducting due diligence on designs to ensure they are commercially efficient and compliant with technical and Cala standards.
4. Managing development service requirements and appointing utility contractors.
5. Ensuring servitudes and wayleaves are progressed.
6. Supporting groundworker tenders and ensuring allowances are included in the bill.
7. Managing internal stakeholders to deliver engineering requirements on time.
8. Communicating clearly and concisely with colleagues.
9. Managing engineering risks and contributing to CDM, risk register, and temporary works register.
10. Appointing external engineering and development consultants.
11. Supporting and developing team members, fostering early talent development.
About You
You should have experience in housebuilding, civil engineering, utilities, or structural engineering, with a BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Knowledge of managing utility service companies, obtaining quotes for supplies and diversions, and understanding Local Highway Authority processes is essential. Preferably, you will have relationships with local engineers in highways and drainage departments.
