An exciting full-time opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Dental Lead Nurse to become the Matron for the Royal London Dental Hospital Network, Oral and Maxillofacial services within the Surgery Division at Royal London Hospital. The Dental network comprises of the Dental Hospital at the Royal London, Whipps Cross Hospital site, Sir Ludwig Guttman centre and the Barkentine Dental outreach centre and Kenworthy Road Dental Clinic in Hackney
The post holder will be responsible for leading, developing and managing the nursing teams to consistently deliver an exemplary dental service and ensuring high quality care experiences for patients. The successful candidate would be expected to be highly visible within clinical times as an essential part of the role.
The Matronwill be a friendly and supportive presence in the team ensuring a safe, happy, and positive environment for all staff. The appointed candidatewill work in partnership with the senior management team to ensure that the respective services and division contributes significantly to the achievement of Division and Site objectives and that effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained. The post holder will work closely with divisional and site Matrons and Senior Nurses, Governance Leads and Practice Development Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Service Delivery Managers and Service managers and report directly to the Senior Nurse and Deputy Associate Director of Nursing
The role of the matron is to provide a leadership presence that is both supportive to the team and ensures that patient safety is upheld and maintained. Through strong clinical leadership the Matron will support the Departmental Sisters/Charge Nurses to promote excellence in dental and nursing and midwifery care to maintain and improve clinical standards. The post holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect, placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond.He/she will promote best practice in the prevention of infection through ensuring a clean and safe environment.
The Matron’s key responsibility is to ensure that the patient’s experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence. This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility and surveillance. The post holder will be expected to work clinically for 20% of their time (1 clinical Day per week) and where required will be a specialist in their clinical area.
The Clinical Directorate is led by the Clinical Director, the operations and service led by the General Manager and the nursing team led by the Senior Nurse. The Matron reports directly to the Senior Nurse who has overarching responsibility for the operational management and strategic direction of nursing.
