Specialist Attendance Officer - Term Time Only - Ref: CH06524
Grade 8; Salary: £34,834 - £39,186 (pro rata)
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and efficient individual who is looking for a new challenge within the School Attendance Service. This post will provide first-tier management to Attendance Officers. The successful candidate will be required to carry out the specialist tasks associated with improving school attendance as well as some direct work with families. This will mean travelling to schools and other locations both in and outside of Walsall.
As part of the management team of the service, applicants will need to have experience within an education setting and have some experience of managing attendance. This may be within a School Attendance Service, school-based, or another organization. Applicants will need to demonstrate an understanding of the reasons for irregular school attendance and show how they have contributed to improving overall attendance in their previous or current roles.
The School Attendance Service has developed successful strategies for improving school attendance from early intervention and a restorative approach to undertaking statutory responsibilities for addressing absence. We will expect the successful candidates to build on this strength so that there is continual development and progress made to raise participation in schools.
The School Attendance Support Service is commissioned by schools in Walsall and schools in neighbouring areas, so business development is an important factor for the service.
The role is 37 hours, term time only.
