Fairfield School of Business (FSB), an OFS registered private higher education provider founded in 2006 with campuses in London, Birmingham, Leicester, Sheffield and Luton. We are currently seeking to appoint a Student Support Officer on a Full-time, permanent basis. Job Purpose To provide both pastoral and curriculum support to students, including those who have declared a disability or who may potentially drop out or under achieving. Work with the Student Union Reps to deliver extracurricular activities and provide support with Student Union activities. Key responsibilities: Offer confidential, impartial and non-judgmental advice and guidance to students Provide students with operational information and deal with student enquiries to include the issuing of documentation and telephone enquiries Work with under achieving students to help them understand and prepare assignments Provide curriculum support to students who have declared a disability Assist and advise students who are applying for DSA Support the Selection and Admissions process to ensure students who declare a disability are given sound, impartial advice Assist the Academic Support Centre in identifying students who need support to submit outstanding assignments Distribute assignment feedback and ensure students understand and use the feedback to improve future assignments. Work with students on an individual basis to solve issues before they become formal complaints Support students through the formal disciplinary process Support students making formal complaints Plan and deliver at least one extracurricular activity per semester Oversee the organisation of college external events i.e. Award Ceremony etc Organise Student representation on designated College committees Act as focus of college contact with Student Union to include organising, overseeing and recording elections for Student Union Officers. Prepare information to inform the exam board and other Management committees Oversee the Student Common Room activities Person Specification: Educated to degree level (or equivalent) Customer service experience Working within higher education (desirable but not essential) Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural diversity Respect for confidentiality, including the integrity and sensitivity of records Schedule: Includes evenings and weekends.
