This is an ideal programme for those with a RICS-accredited degree or a relevant qualification (e.g. Real Estate, Construction, etc.) who are looking to embark on an exciting career in Design and Build. The Graduate Scheme: This two-year rotational programme offers four 6-month “seats” across five core business functions: Pre-Contracts Commercial Business Development Project Management Engineering (Technical Services) At the end of the scheme, your final seat will be selected based on the skills and experience you have developed during the programme and the needs of the business. Your journey through these varied functions will give you a broad and in-depth understanding of the Design and Build industry, providing you with the tools and knowledge to succeed in your permanent department after the two years. What you will be doing: During each of your 6-month placements, your responsibilities will vary depending on the function in which you are placed. Below are some examples of typical responsibilities within each area: 1. Pre-Contracts (Planning & Tendering): Collaborate with the Pre-Construction team to develop accurate scope of works for upcoming projects Assist with site surveys and liaise with clients and contractors to gather project data Support in preparing tender documents and creating bid lists for the supply chain Analyse costs and quotations, helping to prepare cost breakdowns for final proposals Coordinate and help develop project timelines and resource requirements 2. Commercial (Cost Management & Procurement): Assist with monitoring project budgets and help control costs throughout the construction phase Participate in procurement processes by preparing cost estimates and reviewing contracts Help manage cash flow and valuations, and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing Support in identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating financial risks on projects Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and industry regulations 3. Business Development (Client Engagement & Growth): Support the Business Development team with market research and identifying new business opportunities Assist in preparing client proposals, presentations, and pitches Develop a strong understanding of client needs and assist in maintaining ongoing relationships Track project progress and contribute to developing strategies for growth in key sectors Coordinate with other teams to ensure business development goals align with operational capabilities 4. Project Management (Delivery & Coordination): Work alongside project managers to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards Support in the management of project timelines, ensuring key milestones are met Assist with risk management and the identification of potential project delays or cost issues Help manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, contractors, and subcontractors Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and other legal requirements Attend site meetings, preparing reports and progress updates for internal and external stakeholders 5.
