Job overview
We are pleased to offer an exciting 1-year fixed term/secondment to work within Division A Practice Development team providing education and development opportunities to level 8 orthopaedic speciality.
You will be working with HCSW, student nurses, apprentices as well as our Registered nurses. You will be joining a team that is passionate about education and practice development within the Division A team that engages with all Divisions in delivering a very successful band 6 program. As the division is so large and with a range of specialities you must be able to adapt and to teach across the Division. There is ample opportunity to gain new knowledge from trauma and colorectal although some experience would be beneficial.
The Division A education team is dynamic, innovative and inclusive and are looking for a band 7 colleague to join them in driving forward the nursing education strategy.

Main duties of the job
1. To work level 8 orthopaedic wards in Div A as a Practice Development Nurse to facilitate education, training and professional development for all staff through formal and informal teaching.
2. Lead the delivery of some specialist education and training programmes to meet the learning needs of Level 8 workforce.
3. To promote the work-based and academic learning of nursing staff through education and research initiatives.
4. Promote the development and implementation of evidence-based nursing practice.
5. To work in the clinical environment across Div A, to facilitate at clinical, directorate and corporate level, a continuous process of critically evaluating and improving service provision, ensuring effective patient-focused care.
6. Act as a link with staff from other areas to share knowledge, best practice and clinical expertise.
7. Facilitate induction, orientation and supervision of newly employed nursing staff in Div A.
8. Responsible for meeting Trust requirements with regard to the delivery and compliance recording of mandatory training to all staff.
9. Assist in the management of Division A Practice Development Nurse post holders.
10. This post carries a requirement to teach within a clinical setting and contribute to clinical care as service needs require.

Qualifications
* RN.
* Post graduate Teaching and Assessing Qualification and /or Mentorship Qualification.
* Evidence of relevant ongoing professional development.
* Diploma or equivalent
* Orthopaedic or trauma experience
* MSc or willing to undertake
* PGCE or willing to undertake
* Management or leadership qualification.
Experience
* Recent, substantial & relevant orthopaedic experience
* Ability to demonstrate an expert working knowledge of ortho/trauma pathways.
* Experience of mentorship pre & post registration mentoring.
* At least 6 months experience in a Practice development role/education role.
* Evidence of leadership, management and/or team development.
* Experience of lecturing/presenting.
Knowledge
* Expert clinical knowledge in orthopaedics.
* Ability to integrate education/professional needs with the needs of the service.
* Knowledge of reflective practice in learning.
