Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Technical Authority - Instrumentation & Automation based in Aberdeen. Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership, mentoring and expert advice to the wider organisation, where required. Interaction with Industry. Verification Activities to ensure compliance with Technical Standards, Design Performance Standards and Operational Performance Standards. Facilitation of technical lessons learnt through the Lessons Learnt Database. Leading to the continuous improvement of Technical Standards and other Engineering Documents, Methods and Tools. Verification of Engineering Methods and Tools. Support the Concept Development Department with Concept Developments, Technical Framing and Value Engineering Studies. Knowledge of industry rules, standards and guidance related to Instrumentation & Automation, such as: ABS, DNV, IEC, ISO, IEEE, etc. In addition to Instrumentation & Automation, the Technical Authority shall also be the focal point for interaction with Telecommunications and Cybersecurity. Collaboration with Projects and Asset Operations in the field of ICSS, SIS, Metering, Field Instrumentation and Actuated Valves. Design and Selection of IS and non-IS equipment for Explosive Atmospheres, including documentation such as Descriptive System Documents, Simple Apparatus Assessment, Specific Conditions of Use Assessment etc. IECEx CoPC Unit Ex 009 "Design of Electrical Installations" or equivalent. Experience of an engineering tool such as Aveva is advantageous. Possessing competency in functional safety, demonstrated through being certified Functional Safety Engineer (TÜV Rheinland or similar), would be advantageous. The successful candidate must possess a profound understanding and extensive experience in leading roles within the discipline of instrumentation and automation for large FPSO projects. Have a deep comprehension of project dynamics during detailed engineering phase, including inter-discipline interaction and dependencies, as well as critical deliveries within the discipline. The successful candidate shall have experience in installation and construction to understand the practical aspects of field instrumentation and site engineering. Operational experience is advantageous, as it relates to the ability to prioritize and understand how system verification should be conducted to ensure that systems remain operational and healthy throughout their design lifetime. Experience Required: Significant experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry. In particular, Projects and Operations phases of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) assets within an Operating Company and Contractor environments, or closely related industry. Experience with Instrumentation, Automation and Control Systems engineering and design is required. Experience with Telecommunications and Cybersecurity is advantageous. Previous experience working as Principal Engineer / Lead Engineer is required. Previous experience working as Technical Authority / Subject Matter Expert is desirable.
