We are currently searching for a Designer to work as part of a design team, designing and delivering tailored products and ranges that target and focus on the customer and satisfy customer expectations while striving to innovate and influence the commercial fashion market.
The Role
1. Manage the team and work collaboratively across the Group, ensuring achievement of KPIs and contributing to creating a positive working environment for all colleagues.
2. Assist the Head of Design/Design Manager in delivering the company & brand strategy, establishing clear brand positioning in the market, and ensuring customer profiles remain current.
3. Undertake and deliver regular competitive retail analysis/reports.
4. Actively monitor trading across the brand/s and react to sales, making timely decisions and seeking new selling opportunities to maximize revenue and profitability from each season.
5. Identify gaps in the market and react quickly to emerging trends and ‘must-have’ products, ensuring speed to market with new innovative profiles and product areas.
6. Source and develop products through trips that excite and inspire the customer and provide reasons to shop our ranges.
7. Build strong customer knowledge, ensuring collections meet the customer profile and brand/s identity, delivering an appropriate balance of product assortment between high fashion and commerciality.
8. Oversee the development of each range for the Brand/s, producing clear and detailed specifications using appropriate design software as well as quality hand-made samples.
9. Proactively resolve design specification queries, ensuring all designs come in correct the first time.
10. Ensure all design development aligns with the brands' pricing and option framework, working within target RRP & margins.
11. Work collaboratively, inputting original inspiration themes through trend research, insights of key colours/themes/must-have items & key materials.
12. Responsible for creating and presenting inspiring yet commercial company ingredients boards, contributing input to the key statements for the season.
13. Review ranges globally to maximize margin benefits.
14. In partnership with buying, identify, support, and grow key suppliers (including the Fareast) through relationship building, product development, and negotiation activity.
15. Attend ‘first look’ range building as required to support and appropriately influence buying and merchandising.
16. Manage and implement key activities in the ‘critical path’ to ensure all work undertaken meets the requirements of the design critical path.
About you;
1. Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent with a jewellery or accessories degree.
2. Competent Adobe Suite skills and good working ability with Microsoft Office Suite.
3. Sound commercial acumen, trading experience, and a good ability to understand and interpret financial data.
4. Creative flair, with at least 4 years of design experience.
5. Competent hand-making skills – construction of buying samples.
6. Knowledge of Far East suppliers and jewellery production processes.
7. Good understanding of the retail market, fashion trends, and brand positioning.
8. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate competently and clearly.
9. Strong organizational and task management skills, with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-moving reactive business with multiple deadlines.
10. Ability to design across multiple brands and work under pressure/tight deadlines.
