The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and delivering excellent personalised learning opportunities to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, all of whom will have Education Health and Care Plans. This role will initially be based in a Key Stage 2 / 3 class for young people with complex ASD. Primary / SEN experience is advantageous; applicants transitioning from mainstream are most welcome. However, experience within Early Years and Key Stage 1, and knowledge of early reading, writing, phonics and number development is key, as these skills are required when teaching in any of our classes. The role is for a SEN teacher, who may be asked to teach within any of our age ranges. However, in the first instance, we are preferably looking for teachers with the following experience: A knowledge of Autism and complex needs Demonstratable skills in differentiating the curriculum delivery for pupils A knowledge and understanding of functional skills and promoting independence Essential prior to application: Have Qualified teacher Status Have experience of teaching across primary phase An accomplished and experience classroom teacher Experience of setting targets, monitoring, assessment and monitoring performance in order to raise pupil achievement Able to work well within a team Strong ICT skills Understanding of SEND and how to support Key responsibilities: To set and evaluate individual termly targets and to maintain records of achievement for CYP, in consultation with colleagues To provide reports and assessments for CYP in accordance with school policy and for a range of audiences, including a detailed report prior to their annual review To ensure that effective communication is maintained with parents/carers about their child’s welfare, progress and participation in our school community To ensure the safeguarding of all pupils, by operating with the Education Provisions (EP) safeguarding practice & policy, reporting to the Safeguarding team any concerns and record information on the EPs safeguarding system.
