Role Summary/Purpose of Job
This role will provide technical expertise in the Infrastructure team, The successful candidate will work closely with the platform leads to capture a backlog of requirements, identify and develop new capabilities and work with the private cloud team to deliver these into production.
You will work closely with project and product teams comprised of multiple technical disciplines, including developers, subject matter experts, Cloud Engineering administrators, system administrators, and system architects to implement and maintain enterprise-grade information technology applications that are highly-available, scalable, and secure.
Responsible for:
•Prioritizing project and BAU workload for cloud technologies and partners
•Providing incident and problem management support
•Reporting risks, issues and opportunities to senior stakeholders
•Ensuring all systems are maintained, supportable and evergreen
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Ensure that the Private cloud capabilities and associated technologies are sufficiently documented, maintained, available, and have required technical resources. Working closely with the Cloud Engineering teams.
The Senior Infrastructure engineer will also be responsible for ensuring that there is appropriate life-cycle management ensuring that technologies remain supported and are decommissioned (consolidated or replaced) where there is a legitimate need and look at the opportunity to manage towards a Cloud first strategy.
1. Supports the investigation of complex problems in systems and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
2. Contributes to the availability management process. Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels. Implements arrangements for disaster recovery and documents recovery procedures. Conducts testing of recovery procedures.
3. Assesses and analyses release components. Provides input to scheduling. Ensures release processes and procedures are maintained.
4. Undertakes routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or software. Documents details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated.

Key Requirements
Candidates will be evaluated based on their ability to perform the duties listed above while demonstrating the skills and competencies necessary to be highly-effective in the role. These skills and competencies include:
6. Experience in IT Infrastructure professional.
7. Experience of administering VMware technologies and underlying hardware underlays, Dell, EMC, Cisco, etc.
8. NSX-T Knowledge – Geneve/VXLAN.
9. Experience using vRA, vRO and SRM technologies.
10. Experience working in large VMware environment.
11. Knowledge of storage technologies, vSAN, Data domain etc
12. Ability to work independently to meet project deadlines with limited supervision, excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to deliver executive level presentations.
13. Windows server OS Administration/troubleshooting
14. Backup Technologies
15. BS or MA in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent
16. Oustanding troubleshooting skills and a strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies
17. Experience with Dell VXrail
18. Experience working with HCI.
19. Excellent and demonstrable ‘end to end’ infrastructure technologies understanding in relation to the Private cloud and associated capabilities
20. Fluency in reading logfiles and network traces to troubleshoot complex technical issues
21. A good understanding of service and delivery concepts, ITIL, Lean, Six Sigma, CI/CD,etc
22. A demonstrable ability to adapt to change, an aptitude for self development and to develop others where appropriate
23. Flexible, inquisitive and optimistic in outlook, a broad understanding of the technology industry and landscape
24. Ability to innovate and adapt to changing requirements with an ability to undertake and lead complex analytical tasks.
25. Able to demonstrate core competencies and behaviours.
26. Cisco Networking experience – Understanding of VLAN’s, IP-Subnets, basic routing/network troubleshooting.
27. Microsoft Azure – Any exposure to Azure or previous experience would be advantageous.

The IT Department
Our primary goal in IT is to enable exceptional client service through technology. We work closely with all teams across the firm to understand their technology needs and provide the tools and services that they need to be productive and service clients effectively. Through the Technology Roadmap that we maintain we coordinate technology initiatives across the firm and ensure alignment with firm strategy.
The Global Centre serves as our new base for the central IT team and we have recently established our IT Service Desk, Testing and Service Operations teams in this new location. We are continuing to build the team in the Centre to ensure the global delivery of high quality and consistent IT services in an efficient manner.
We operate as a truly global team with the central team working closely with regional colleagues in most of our offices. We are responsible for all aspects of technology and communications within the firm.
About Service and Operations Function
The Service and Operations function is responsible for the operation and delivery of technology at Freshfields. The function operates to provide the support for all the live infrastructure used across the first. The team also works on the concept of “DevOps” to accelerate the delivery of change through the resources within the function working on projects and initiatives whilst supporting existing and new systems within the firm.
