We have an exciting opportunity for a Personal Assistant to join a new, specialist care team in Prestwood in Great Missenden. Our client is a mature woman with a spinal cord injury (SCI), requiring her to use a wheelchair full time. She is looking for a live-in personal assistant to help fulfil her practical care needs. She is an independent, active, motivated and positive individual who desires to engage more with the community, participate in activities, and enjoy cultural experiences, such as theatre and opera. She has a passion for travel and has travelled extensively, with a deep love for exploring new places and experiencing diverse cultures. Swimming has always been one of her favourite activities, and for years, she swam daily. Her interests also include art, gardening, and cultural events, and she finds great joy in visiting galleries, painting, and spending time outdoors. She values opportunities to socialize, connect with friends, and attend cultural events whenever possible. She values companionship and would appreciate someone who can assist with organising daily tasks. While she enjoys a clean and tidy home and would like help with laundry, cleaning, and dusting, her primary focus is on being able to go out and enjoy life. She knows exactly what she wants to do and where she wants to goshe just needs practical support to make it happen The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who is not only able to assist with her daily needs but is also enthusiastic about helping her enjoy a fulfilling and engaged lifestyle, in line with her interests and passions. The personal assistant must have experience with people with disabilities or spinal cord injuries in their home or working life, although bespoke client centred training will be provided for the right candidate. The personal assistant will need experience in providing personal care, experience of both suprapubic catheter care and colostomy care, domestic and social support to individuals using a rehabilitative approach. The role is for a live-in personal assistant. Separate and private facilities (including ensuite bathroom) are available on site to ensure that the personal assistant can have adequate rest outside of their scheduled hours. The Role: Assisting with all aspects of personal care, including bowel and bladder care. Providing support and assistance for social outings and appointments and assisting with all therapies. Supporting with food preparation and domestic tasks. Assist with shopping and running errands in the community, with or without the client. The client requires support seven days each week and requires support from 7:00 to 22:00. Our client plans to take occasional holidays, and the role would involve accompanying her on these trips as part of a team on a rota basis. About You: We are looking for candidates who are flexible, reliable, trustworthy, able to take initiative and are enthusiastic, with a good sense of humour. You should also be open minded, willing to learn new skills and a non-smoker. A full driving licence is essential. Previous experience in spinal injury. You will be provided with specialist training in all areas should it be necessary. NVQ level 2 or equivalent, or care certificate, or willingness to complete the care certificate. Fluency in both spoken and written English is essential. Shift Patterns: Shift patterns are still to be confirmed but they will be either 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off or 3 weeks on 3 weeks of, this will be discussed at the interview You will be forming part of a team who will provide full daytime support on a rota basis.
