Join a high-growth FMCG business that’s redefining its category with an innovative approach to product development and production. This fast-paced, expanding company is committed to delivering exceptional products to a rapidly growing customer base, all while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence. As Process Development Chemist, you will be key to bridging the gap between R&D and production. This role focuses on scaling up formulations, ensuring manufacturing feasibility, and driving continuous process improvements. You will work closely with the R&D, QA, and production teams to ensure smooth product transitions from development to manufacturing, while tackling challenges and driving efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Scale-Up and Production Transfer: Work with R&D to assess formulation scalability, lead pilot runs, and ensure production processes are optimised for new products.
* R&D Collaboration: Provide technical input during product development, conduct trials, and propose solutions for process compatibility and sustainability.
* Process Optimisation: Refine manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and implement lean manufacturing practices.
* Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure formulations and processes meet regulatory standards and maintain thorough documentation for all manufacturing procedures.
* Continuous Improvement: Analyse production performance, implement process enhancements, and track KPIs to measure improvements and drive cost reduction.
Key Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
* Proven experience in process development, scale-up, and manufacturing of chemical or liquid-based products (ideally in FMCG).
* In-depth understanding of formulation chemistry, process transfer, and scale-up methodologies.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools is preferred (e.g., Six Sigma).
* Knowledge of packaging line optimisation is highly desirable.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with tools like root cause analysis, fishbone diagrams, and experimental design.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise between R&D, production, and operations teams.
* High attention to detail in documentation and execution of experimental processes.
* Agile and adaptable mindset, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This role is ideal for a chemist or chemical engineer with a strong technical background in formulation and manufacturing, looking to contribute to a dynamic and innovative company committed to growth and operational excellence.
