Leadership, management and strategic planning of the Ultrasound department (Imaging section, non-obstetrics)
Management and leadership of a team of 19 sonographers (plus a small team of bank sonographers).
Managing capacity, demand and waiting lists of all non-obstetric ultrasound referrals, including out-patients, in-patients and on-demand clinic referrals for a wide range of ultrasound sub-specialties including abdominal, gynaecology, vascular, MSK, head and neck, FNA/Biopsy/cannula insertion.
Management of ultrasound capacity and demand at Community Diagnostic Centres, meeting activity targets, and future planning.
Working collaboratively with Radiologists, Imaging Assistant team, Imaging Appointments team, Medics and all referring departments/locations.
IMAGING ULTRASOUND CLINICAL MANAGER TASK LIST
DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS
1. Diary setup check and communication with booking team.
2. In-Patient Management (Plus SDEC, SAU, TIA).
3. Rota check.
4. Weekend sessions planning– AfC and extra.
5. Liaising with Obs Lead Sonographer as required.
6. Communicating with Bank Sonographers.
7. Day-to-day troubleshooting of issues in ultrasound.
8. Day-to-day troubleshooting for pathways/bookings teams.
9. Feedback of information to all sonographers – substantive and bank.
10. Firefighting/trouble-shooting/incident management/conflict resolution.
11. Ordering equipment/supplies – Unit4.
12. Liaising with GIA coordinator.
13. Monitoring vetting/requests waiting to be booked.
HR TASKS
1. HealthRoster.
2. Salary Returns.
3. Completing payments spread sheet.
4. Checking and accepting overtime claims.
5. Annual Leave/Maternity leave.
6. Essential training – Aspire.
7. Expenses management using electronic system.
8. Recruitment.
9. Appraisals for all sonography staff.
