Assistant Buyer - Maternity Leave Cover, length of contract 12-14 months
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
This is a fixed-term contract position for 12-14 months, covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuity of service and support to the purchasing function during this period.
As this is a temporary/contract role, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to quickly integrate into the team and get up to speed with existing processes and systems.
Handover Period:
The role will involve a handover period, during which the successful candidate will be trained on current workflows and procedures to ensure a smooth transition.
End-of-Term Handover:
Towards the end of the contract, the candidate will be expected to hand over duties and ensure smooth knowledge transfer to the returning team member or a new hire.
Contract Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity leave cover).
Flexible Start Date: Ideally, candidates should be able to start as soon as possible to allow for a handover period.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Use ERP system to review buyer workbench daily.
2. Raise, maintain, and expedite Purchase Orders daily (stock and non-stock) as necessary.
3. Prepare pricing quotes for design, sales, interco, and incoming freight.
4. Visit suppliers and maintain relationships.
5. Maintain part parameters, stocking levels, price lists, etc., on the ERP system.
6. Notify and mitigate cost increases where possible.
7. Create part numbers using the ERP System, as necessary.
8. Prepare and review suppliers' KPIs to improve delivery performance and stock valuation/availability.
9. Review and maintain departmental training resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Previous experience of working within a purchasing administration role.
2. Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
3. Knowledge of ERP systems required; Epicor is an advantage.
4. Basic understanding of engineering drawings is an advantage.
5. Confident with the ability to communicate with people at all levels within the Company and its customer/supplier base.
6. Strong administration skills and attention to detail.
7. Excellent diplomatic communication skills.
8. Ability to multi-task in a demanding/changing environment.
9. Proactive, professional, and committed to providing first-class customer service.

Salary: £25,500 Plus Benefits
