An exciting opportunity has presented itself for an experienced nurse or existing pre-op practitioner to join our highly experienced and dynamic pre-operative assessment service. The role will be that of a band 6 and full training and mentoring will be provided to support you to reach your goals. You must have relevant years of experience with post-registration nursing experience ideally in surgery, medicine, or theatres and have skills and desire to provide high quality of care for our diverse range of patients.
You must be enthusiastic and motivated; however, you must be able to demonstrate that you work well within a team and can also prioritise and work autonomously safely with a keen desire to ensure the trust values are met to become a competent practitioner in the speciality of pre-operative assessment. Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage the Pre-Assessment Suite in the absence of the Manager, coordinating the activities of the Pre-Assessment Suite, deploying resources effectively.
2. To effectively co-ordinate care to ensure a seamless and timely pathway of care for patients.
3. Lead by example and act as a positive role model taking responsibility for own professional development.
4. Ensure that effective communication is maintained both within the Pre-Assessment Suite and with relevant external agencies or individuals.
5. Organise own workload and adjust priorities in response to issues arising in the workplace.
6. Recognise and respond appropriately to issues which require urgent or immediate attention, reporting to other members of the multi-disciplinary/management team as necessary.
7. Ensure comprehensive clinical records are maintained.
8. Ensure the provision of compassionate, safe, and high-quality care of all patients and supervise the working of junior staff and trainees.
9. Contribute to the Stockport Accreditation and Recognition Scheme (StARS) as required.
10. To undertake pre-admission screening of patients ensuring that they are fit for surgery on the allocated date and that surgery is still required.
