A unique opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work in a specialised outdoor learning environment, supporting students aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role is perfect for someone passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives while helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role:
The successful candidate will:
1. Provide tailored support to small groups and individual students in a nurturing environment.
2. Assist in delivering engaging and creative lessons, incorporating outdoor learning.
3. Build trusting relationships with students to support their emotional well-being.
4. Use effective behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
5. Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for students.
6. Contribute to maintaining a safe, structured, and stimulating environment.
Requirements:
Candidates should demonstrate:
1. Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, particularly autism.
2. Confidence, resilience, and a calm approach in high-pressure situations.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
4. A commitment to professional development and willingness to learn.
5. GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).
6. Experience in outdoor or non-traditional learning settings is desirable but not essential.
7. A deep and thorough understanding of autism, perhaps backed up by Autism Level 1 and Level 2 Training.
8. History of working with children who are disengaged with education.
