THE ROLE As an Event Manager, you will lead a high-performing team and be involved from the beginning of the selling process, converting inquiries into confirmed bookings with keen attention to maximise revenue. The position's key focus will be to convert group and event inquiries and to drive up-selling within the department and throughout the hotel. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the performance of the Events team, ensuring it is effectively managed through a focus on recruitment, training, problem resolution, coaching, succession planning and accountability. Ensuring the 2,6, and 11-week probation review meetings are conducted for all new starters. Conduct annual and mid-year Appraisals with Team Members. Implement development plans alongside the People and Culture / H.R. Manager to ensure the team are trained and developed. Foster and promote a cooperative working culture of "one team one dream", maximising productivity and Team Member morale. Deal with telephone and e-mail events enquiries, ensuring a high percentage of lead conversion. Protect relationships with existing clients, as well as identify opportunities to create relationships with new clients. Be responsible for following the process from a lead, proposal, and hotel visit into the contracting stage. Seek out opportunities to up-sell various areas of the hotel or/and food and beverage, which meet the client's needs and maximise revenues. Ensure that event revenue targets are met against the monthly forecast and budget. Carry out hotel show rounds with clients and potential clients, pre-booked or walk-ins. To efficiently communicate with all HOD, especially: the Ops Manager, F&B Ops Manager, Events Ops Manager, Head Chef and Director of Sales & Events. To be fully aware of any industry trend and implement strategies to ensure the hotel stays ahead in the market. Ensure all inquiries are recorded accurately in (Opera, Delphi, etc.). Create detailed BEO function sheets for all functions & events, and issue them on a weekly basis. Attend the weekly (BEO) meeting as required. Identify need periods and undertake a comprehensive program of sales activity to secure new and ad-hoc business, minimising the impact of low activity periods. Other duties and tasks assigned by the management within the job scope. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU 3 to 5 years of hotel experience in hotel events sales. A confident & dynamic speaker, able to communicate and interact effectively with all levels. You drive a high-performance culture, setting clear expectations, empowering your team, and holding them accountable. Ability to use and train Opera and Delphi. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Able to multi-task and work under pressure with a desire to devise solutions to challenges. A good eye for detail, ensuring contracts and quotes are issued correctly. Good organisational skills & the ability to set and meet deadlines.
