Start Date -September 2025, typically for 18 months
Starting Salary- £30,000
Minimum Entry Criteria – You’ll need to be near to, or have completed, an appropriate Engineering Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and be on track to achieve a 2:1 or higher

What does the Operator Environment Mechanical Engineering Graduate Scheme involve day to day?
This scheme has been designed for Graduates so that you’re able to experience different placements to broaden your understanding of the different engineering disciplines & processes. This will allow you to demonstrate your skills and experience to the business. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a commercial placement to understand the wider business. The time on scheme will allow you to develop skills but also understand where your passion lies within engineering.
What could I be doing?
Test and Development – The development role would see you being involved in the testing and validation of all areas of the cab to ensure that designs meet legislation and product requirements in addition to ensuring the products can survive a machine’s lifecycle without failure.
Design - The design role, using Siemens NX Computer Aided Design (CAD) package, would see you design, modify and release parts to support current and new products using JCB’s change management system. You’ll work in collaboration with our Structural engineering, Thermal Systems, Ergonomics and Compliance teams within Operator Environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work on the design of: Protective structures (Cab/Canopy); glazing; seats; door systems; HVAC (heating and cooling systems); polymers; fabrications and mechanisms as well as broadening your understanding of prototyping methods.
What comes next?
1. We’ll be shortlisting and sending out links to our online assessments in November/December 2024.
2. Through December 2024 to February 2025, if you've been shortlisted following your online assessment you will be sent an invite to one of our in-person Assessment Centres.
3. In-person Assessment Centres will take place from January to April 2025.
4. We aim to call all candidates whether successful or unsuccessful a few weeks after the Assessment Centre has taken place.
5. All of our apprentices and graduates will start their exciting journeys with a full induction week in September 2025!
