We are expanding our team of writers supporting FortiDLP, our next generation data loss prevention and insider risk solution. FortiDLP writers use a combination of text, images, and information architecture to communicate product features and benefits. Technical documentation is published to the Fortinet Document Library at https://docs.fortinet.com.
To fulfill this role, you must have outstanding English language skills, a curiosity for technology, a passion for creating useful technical content, and an interest in single-sourcing content. You must be detail-oriented with stamina for highly technical content while working with others to contribute to large documentation sets. You must also possess the ability to document features by reading specifications, talking to subject matter experts, and using the software.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, QA, and others to understand new features, use cases, and customer scenarios and then:
1. Write and publish documentation, such as release notes, deployment guides, administration guides, quick start guides, and reference materials
2. Use images and diagrams to supplement text and aid understanding of complex concepts
3. Provide user-friendly text for tooltips and other user interface elements
4. Receive and address feedback with the goal of filling content gaps and continually improving content
5. Contribute to a strong, nimble, positive, and effective team
Requirements:
1. At least 3 years’ technical writing experience working in software development environments
2. Ability to convert complex technical information into clean, concise, and coherent end-user documentation in plain English
3. Strong command of standard American English grammar and usage
4. Experience using MadCap Flare and Git
5. BA or BS degree, preferably in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, MIS, English, or a related field
