Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Undertaking Continuous Professional Development in the core subjects of medical emergencies, Infection Prevention Control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection, legal and ethical issues, and handling complaints, as recommended by the General Dental Council. Providing treatment in line with the scope of practice for dental hygienists as outlined in the General Dental Council publication 'Scope of Practice'. Treatment should be delivered in line with professional guidelines e.g. BSP guidance, and in accordance with agreed patient group directive. Supporting the Practice manager with administrative functions as required. Deliver elements of dental treatment plan on prescription from a registered dentist in line with professional body guidance. Being familiar of the content of the Dental Emergency Resuscitation Kit (DERK), how to access it, how to use the components and be capable of carrying out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) if necessary, in support of patients and colleagues. There are no expected Line Management responsibilities with this role, any future changes will be discussed with the successful applicant at the time.
