Job summary
Hounslow & Richmond Community Healthcare Trust are currently searching for a talented Immunisation Nurse to support their fantastic Immunisations team as a member of the School Age Vaccination Service (SAV) for Kingston + Richmond, to support the safe delivery and triage of the nasal flu and other vaccination programmes within the SAV teams.
Main duties of the job
1. The main duties of a Registered Immunisations Nurse include,being able to assess young people and understand the pre-requisites of giving an immunisation, understanding the contra-indications, the aftercare and the relevant advice to give to the young person.
2. Contributeto the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse and act in accordance with the local Safeguarding Childrens Board guidelines.
3. Ensure that all statutory & mandatory training is kept up to date. This includes CPR,Anaphylaxis and Immunisation training.
4. To maintain the necessary communication and liaison with all members of other nursing disciplines and allied professions.
5. Provide support, mentorship, guidance and supervision to junior and nonqualified staff members of the School Nursing service.
6. Maintain own personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care, carrying out the requirements of the law and following recognised codes of practice. The Nurse is also required to be aware of and comply with Trust policies on Health and Safety.

7. Administer vaccines according to the national immunisation schedule.
8. Maintain accurate and detailed records of immunisations given.
9. Provide education and information to patients and families about immunisation, including potential side effects and the importance of vaccines.
10. Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunisation.
11. Ensure vaccines are stored and handled according to guidelines, maintaining the cold chain.
12. Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, pharmacists, and social workers.
13. Participate in public health initiatives and campaigns to promote immunisation.
14. Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
15. Registered Nurse with a valid license to practice.
16. Experience in immunisation and vaccination is preferred.
17. Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, vaccines, and contraindications to vaccination.
18. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
19. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
20. The role may involve travel to different locations to provide immunisation clinics in schools, community centres, and other settings.
