Our client, a leading specialist construction manufacturer, is seeking a Service Engineer who will enhance the company's success by delivering frontline technical support on aluminium and steel systems, digital solutions, and project applications to partners across the UK and Ireland. With a team of 115 staff in the UK, the company is the global leader in its field. This role will directly contribute to business growth and overall sales targets by providing practical guidance on fabrication and installation best practices.
The Service Engineer will work closely with the technical services, product management, training, engineering, sales, and specification teams to provide market-leading technical support, act as a subject matter expert, and assist in partner training.
This role is field-based and predominantly requires travel within the south of the UK, including overnight stays during the week, often at short notice.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Team Leader to schedule site visits, prioritizing based on urgency and location.
* Maintain and manage the booking and appointment system, ensuring all visits are effectively coordinated and confirmed with relevant stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate records of site visits, reports, and customer interactions for reference and quality control.
* Conduct comprehensive site inspections of installed systems to identify and troubleshoot fabrication or installation non-conformities.
* Support the UK training department by delivering training and hands-on assistance in manufacturing aluminium and steel systems to customers.
* Provide detailed visit reports outlining findings, root causes, and recommendations for corrective actions.
Minimum Requirements
* Proven industry experience, including site installation or fabrication.
* Experience in a building envelope software solution such as SchuCal, Logikal, Klaes, or RaynerPro.
* Experience in the manufacturing and installation of aluminium and steel systems.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
* A clean and valid UK driving licence is essential.
