Pharmacy Purchasing and Stores Assistant
The Pharmacy Department is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking individual to join our purchasing team as a Pharmacy Purchasing and Stores Assistant working in the pharmacy store and with the pharmacy robot to ensure urgent medicines are received into the Trust and that fluids and feeds are stored and supplied according to the high standards set out by our wholesale dealer's licence. You will also cover the priority porter role on a planned basis working on a shift rota.
This is a full time post working an average of 37.5 hours per week including weekends and late evenings on a rota.
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the procurement team supporting the procurement officer in the purchase of medicine supplies for the Trust. To utilise the computerised pharmacy stock control system for the ordering and receipt of medicine. To perform routine operations of the robot. To work as a member of the pharmacy stores team to ensure pharmacy goods are received into the Trust and that fluids and feeds are provided to clinical areas. Work under our wholesale distributor's authorisation providing fluid and feeds to our external customers. Ensure the pharmacy store is maintained to a high standard.
Job responsibilities
To receive goods using the stock control system. To input the deliveries via the robot, paying attention to specific detail. Process authorised invoices for payment. To inform pharmacy staff concerning delivery delays and stock shortages. To liaise with suppliers and pharmacy staff regarding stock discrepancies and assist in rectifying discrepancies in orders. To assist the Purchasing Department in monitoring procurement activities. To be able to work under own initiative using departmental procedures. To check robot deliveries against relevant paperwork. Perform various robot maintenance activities. To monitor expiry dates and ensure stock is stored and rotated appropriately to minimise waste. To monitor stocks of bulk fluids and place orders using the stock control system. To complete all KPI spreadsheets in order to monitor supplier performance.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE Grade C in Maths and English or equivalent
Experience
* Experience in a customer care environment or warehouse
* Experience in a hospital or pharmacy
Practical and intellectual skills
* Good all round communication skills
* Able to demonstrate good levels of accuracy in all work areas
* Able to work with PCs and other devices
Disposition
* Able to work effectively as part of a team
Training
* Prepared to attend those courses which are deemed necessary by the Chief Pharmacist
Physical Make up
* Able to meet the requirements of the role. This job involves constant walking around site.
