Male or Female Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker required to assist a young man with physical and learning disabilities living in the Quarter area of Hamilton.
Full time and part time positions available.
You would be required to provide one-to-one care and assistance within their home, and in the community including attending to personal care and participation in social activities. Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:
· Attending to limited personal care needs (shaving, nail cutting)
· Supervising the taking of oral medication
· Preparing and cooking meals and healthy snacks
· Social activities on an ad-hoc basis such as cinema trips, going out for a meal, swimming etc.
· Household shopping and collecting prescriptions
· Dressing assistance with zips, tying shoelaces, applying an arm splint in the evening
· Assisting with daily living tasks such as changing beds
· Any other tasks to promote independent living
A full driving licence is essential, and you will be required to use your own vehicle for which a mileage allowance will be paid.
Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage the individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.
· Experience is preferred but not essential.
· Non-Smoker required due to sensory needs.
· Cooking skills are a requirement for this role; this will be discussed further at interview.
The most important qualities are a warm, compassionate, and friendly nature with an understanding of those with extra learning needs and a desire to work within a caring role and assist the disabled individual reach their full potential for independent living.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The cared-for person is shy and almost non-communicative until he gets to know people.
Hours of Work
Two positions available.
Split shifts across two daily periods, morning and evening. Shift pattern to be discussed at interview and can be flexible.
Guaranteed permanent positions of up to 40 hours per week available, full and part time positions.
Days and times of available shifts:
Monday: 8AM – 1PM and 5PM – 9PM
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 7.30AM – 9AM and 5PM - 9PM
Thursday 8AM – 2PM and 5PM – 9PM
Saturday and Sunday: 8AM – 1PM and 5PM – 9PM
Hourly rate:
£12.00 per hour with potential overtime available.
