Job Summary
The Grade 4 Electrician is responsible for planning, laying out, and executing all operations related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex electrical equipment and circuitry. This position involves working with electric motors, digital drives, high-voltage circuits, and electrical control panels while ensuring that equipment functions safely and efficiently within plant operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Repair and maintain electric motors and accessory equipment.
* Install and repair various electronic equipment, including PLC programmers.
* Maintain and install electrical services for lighting and HVAC systems.
* Install new equipment, run conduit, pull wire, and connect wiring.
* Troubleshoot electrical issues and equipment breakdowns.
* Perform machine changeovers for plant processes and products.
* Conduct preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
* Complete necessary paperwork and reports.
* Maintain the boiler room and calibrate scales and equipment.
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge
* AC/DC current operations (100, 200, 480, and 2300V circuitry).
* PLC programming, HMI’s, sensors, level controls, and AC/DC drives.
* Pneumatic and hydraulic system operation.
* Plant processes and equipment operations.
* Electrical safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and NFPA70E compliance.
Skills
* Interpretation of maintenance manuals and schematics.
* Mathematical calculations for amperage, wattage, resistance, and calibration setups.
* Work order documentation and electronic reporting via SAP CMMS.
* Operation of shop equipment and electrical measurement devices.
* Welding and soldering techniques.

Education & Experience
* Education: Completion of an accredited 8,000-hour apprenticeship, technical school program, or electrical field college degree.
* Experience: Minimum 4+ years in an industrial/manufacturing electrical role, including PLC programming and digital drive operations.
* Continuing Education: Required participation in training sessions, seminars, and in-plant educational opportunities.
Equipment & Data Used
* Equipment: PLC, PCs, battery hydrometers, multimeters, amp meters, soldering irons, forklifts, drill presses, hydraulic presses, lathes, scissor lifts, company vehicles, and more.
* Tools: Knives, micrometers, tape measures, various hand tools, pipe threaders, welders, and more.
* Data: Motor nameplates, schematics, maintenance manuals, and work order reports.
Work Environment
* Work inside and outside various plant locations.
* Exposure to extreme temperatures (120°F+ and below 32°F).
* Potential exposure to rubber fumes, chemicals, lubricants, and loud noise levels.
* Work in hazardous environments (Class 1 Division 1 & 2).
* Use of PPE as required.
Work Schedule
* Monday – Friday with potential weekend overtime.
* Fixed shifts:
o 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
o 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 11:00 PM
o 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Physical Requirements
* Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
* Standing for extended periods.
* Lifting up to 60 lbs.
* Good vision and hearing for hazard awareness and communication.
