Currie & Brown is currently looking for an associate cost consultant to join our Edinburgh office. The successful candidate will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing, and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.
Your core duties will involve:
1. Providing accurate cost advice and reporting to our clients.
2. Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments.
3. Assuming a leading role in setting objectives and priorities, working as a proactive team player.
4. Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects; liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
5. Undertaking commercial management services with limited supervision.
6. Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
7. Providing support to the team leader/service leaders in cost management of projects.
8. Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships.
What skills and attributes are we looking for from you:
1. BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent.
2. Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
3. Private commercial sector experience ideally gained from some of the following: offices, residential, hospitality, major projects, fit out, and refurb.
4. Proficient in CostX or other Cost Planning software.
5. Sustainability and Data Skills i.e. carbon assessment and Power BI.
6. Contract administration skills. Pre and post-contract experience.
7. Good technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills.
8. Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined, and commercially astute.
9. A team player with a can-do attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible.
