This exciting and pivotal senior leadership position has overall responsibility for leading and managing the National Safeguarding Service (NSS) to support the NHS in demonstrably embedding a culture of learning, quality improvement and innovation in safeguarding services. The post holder also plays a pivotal role in the office of the Director of Nursing, Quality and Integrated Governance as part of the senior management team. The Director will ensure that the NSS delivers a step change in the design, development and implementation of safeguarding improvement programmes, using strong quality improvement and programme management. This will include adoption of evidence-based improvement interventions and ‘A Healthier Wales’ Quadruple Aim and focused outcomes in line with NHS Wales Quality and Safety Framework, and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Safeguarding in Health Review. Candidate Requirements Clinically qualified and registered as a clinical practitioner in the field of Health or Social Care, with one of the following regulatory bodies, i.e. NMC, HCPC OR Specialist GMC Registration and Clinically active (or have held an active clinical position in the previous two years) And Evidence of post- qualification study/professional development to doctorate level or equivalent senior management experience OR Significant post registration experience at a very senior professional level Educated to Master’s degree or equivalent level of demonstrable experience in depth professional knowledge in safeguarding and quality improvement. Substantial recent experience working at a strategic level in Safeguarding and Public Protection within a public sector setting Significant post registration experience at a very senior professional level Track record of sound financial management combined with experience of developing business cases to secure funding Experience of leading individuals and teams through complex programme of organisational and culture change including the ability to recognise and manage ambiguity Experience in working at a national level to improve health/safeguarding outcomes Expert experience of working across multisector organisations including regional safeguarding boards and other partnerships Significant achievement in driving improvements in quality and safeguarding in complex settings Experience of contributing towards practice or policy developments at a national level Experience of working in a political environment Good understanding and proven experience of people management and work programme governance at a senior level.
