Description Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to the Enterprise, delivering £5.5bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030, and AMP 9 (2030 – 2035). Our scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the North West and Cumbria region covered by United Utilities. Projects vary in value from £10m - c£600m covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites with wider Enterprise partners. Reporting to the Planning Lead, the Senior Planner will be responsible for ensuring the projects are kept on track by updating and maintaining the project programme. Initially the role will be in the pre-construction phase, monitoring the design programme and developing the delivery programme with the design information as it becomes available. The programme would continue to be maintained through the delivery phase through to handover and closedown. Responsibilities Prepare robust tender and contract programmes using the designated planning tool, that link design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and handover, in line with the project life cycle Display and analyse the project Critical Path and advise the project team (Inc. client) of the results and any appropriate corrective action Produce/maintain project baselines and execute change control process as appropriate Correctly record project progress in the programme, reschedule programme to take effect of the progress data and communicate the results to the project team and advise of any appropriate corrective action Produce programmes that satisfy contractual requirements All programmes and documentation to be produced to company practices and procedures Manage several programmes and support Planning Engineers/Junior Planning Engineers including supervision and checking of work to ensure that all work complies with company standards and procedures Qualifications Essential Extensive experience in the use of Primavera P6 Construction / Engineering Experience Ability to engage and build strong relationships with stakeholders, striving for mutual success Able to actively administer and manage NEC forms of contract Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do Flexibility and adaptability to be able to respond rapidly to unexpected events, having the ability to shape our responses appropriately Excellent written and oral presentation skills to present complex interdependencies simply and clearly Relevant engineering or project management qualification CSCS Full UK driving licence Desirable Water industry experience Enterprise working Proficient in Microsoft Project
