Fantastic opportunity to join a well-established company based in Didcot. Our client is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join their team on a temporary basis, working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and offering a salary of £11.44 per hour increasing to £12.21 from April. 39 hours per week Monday to Thursday 8:00 - 16:30 and Friday 8:00 - 15:30.
As the Laboratory Analyst, you will be responsible for your own analytical work and ensuring the resulting data is accurate, precise, and delivered in a timely manner to the appropriate standard. You will also be responsible for routine maintenance of related equipment and undertaking non-routine tasks with supervision as required.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Performing analytical duties without supervision to the required productivity and quality specifications after receiving full training.
2. Maintaining good laboratory practice at all times, following methods, standard operating procedures, local rules and regulations, and safe working procedures.
3. Being aware of and conforming to the Laboratory Quality system, specifically UKAS (ISO17025) and MCERTS requirements.
4. Ensuring compliance with the Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements of the department and the wider business, ensuring that the correct PPE and other safety equipment are used at all times, accidents and incidents are minimized, and any Non-conformances are reported in a timely manner through the correct procedures.
5. Updating and maintaining all work records including training records, equipment records, system suitability, batch sheets, NCW, and Issues ensuring they are completed appropriately and both filed and stored correctly.
6. Performing routine maintenance and performance checks, documenting accordingly, and reporting any faults and/or abnormalities in equipment and data to a Line Manager in the appropriate timescales.
7. Projecting a professional, courteous image and supporting the business culture and codes of practice at all times.
8. Embracing and actively participating in positive change, being responsible for your own development within the business.
9. Having a sound understanding of the analytical methods and processes within the department and assisting in the training of new staff members as required.
10. Adhering to and supporting the Line Manager in attaining the production and quality targets of the department.
11. Organizing, prioritizing, and monitoring your own workload in alignment with the current objectives of the department and Section Leader, ensuring that customer requirements are met at all times.
The ideal candidate:
1. Experience of working in a high-pressure production-driven environment.
2. Experience of laboratory procedures, principles, methods, and instrumentation.
3. GCSE or equivalent in English, Science, and Maths, grade C or above.
4. Good understanding of scientific principles, nomenclature, and theory.
5. Computer literacy - specifically knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
6. Experience of Safe Working Procedures and Health and Safety regulations.
7. Thorough experience and understanding of working to UKAS and MCERTS standards.
8. Thrives in a busy, customer-focused, production environment.
9. Consistently motivated and delivery-focused.
10. Problem-solving ability and the capacity to make sound decisions.
11. Good communicator at all levels with strong organizational skills.
12. Works collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
13. Self-motivated, with a can-do attitude, energy, resilience, and ambition.
14. Own transport is essential due to location.
