Job title: Full time Senior Life Skills Coach
Reports to: Service Lead
Location: Based in Birmingham
DBS required: Yes, Enhanced and Barred
Purpose: Pegasus Supported Housing Limited provides shared supported housing solutions in line with housing related support which promotes independence, safety and security. We empower our Service Users to take positive action to promote their wellbeing and achieve optimum independence within their daily lives, while preparing to achieve tenancy sustainment in preparation for their own homes.
As a Senior Life Skills Coach you will be responsible for leading, developing and motivating the front-line team. You will assume a leadership role within the Life Skills Coach team, supervising members in your team, and actively contributing to the development of the team. Your primary focus will be on providing high-quality support, and guidance to enhance the well-being and development of each individual. Working closely with the management team, you will play a key role in fostering a positive and inclusive environment that promotes independence and growth.
Responsibilities
1. Support the development of the Life Skills Coach team by 1-1 reviews, setting measurable objectives in line with performance management and personal development to ensure the team is equipped to deliver in their roles.
2. Conduct regular audits and team meetings to ensure service KPI’s are being communicated and delivered in line with the Quality Standards, focusing on quality and compliance of service delivery.
3. Work closely with the referrals team regarding suitable allocation and transition of new service users into the service. Support the referrals team with conducting comprehensive, person-centred, risk and needs assessments using a holistic approach to determine the suitability of our services.
4. Lead the team on a day-to-day basis ensuring organisational policies and procedures are adhered to.
5. Assist with coaching and training the Life Skills Team to upskill their knowledge of the service delivery.
6. Provide effective leadership and coaching to enable the team to find effective solutions when dealing with service user related challenges including anti-social behaviour and rent/service charge arrears.
7. Take lead responsibility for safeguarding, health and wellbeing concerns for service users and staff.
8. Conduct property inspections to ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards in line with the Decent Homes Standards.
9. Deliver a comprehensive and person-centred coaching package with the service user designed to maximise independence based on an initial assessment of the service users’ needs and abilities.
10. Maintain and update records of service user’s progressions/outcomes using the provided online software, maintaining contact on a regular basis in line with organisational expectations.
11. Promote independence and wellbeing through coaching service users to develop life skills that enable them to independently manage personal finances, health and wellbeing, tenancy sustainability, and be ready for move on to independent accommodation.
12. Risk assess and assist the service user with security and safety matters within their home.
13. Identify and maintain focus on progression and achievement of personal goals for the service user.
14. Liaise/develop relationships and work collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory/voluntary agencies where appropriate to negotiate and agree their participation in working with the service user, including arranging multi-agency meetings.
15. Work with colleagues and coordinate activity across the team and with other stakeholders, including attending meetings, to ensure the service is achieving its aims.
16. Advocate in matters relating to the service user such as welfare benefit advice, behaviour intervention, arrears advice, etc., and actively involve Management when required.
17. Ensure service users have equal access to opportunities available such as the right to consultation, representation, safety, security, challenge, seek advice and assistance, decent living conditions, and clear information on their support entitlement in line with the Charter of Rights.
18. Provide and manage adequate cover of the team when required.
Salary, Working Arrangements & Further Information
40 hours a week with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break daily = 37.5 hours – Full Time
Salary £25,000
Essential Criteria:
1. Must hold Full UK Driver’s License
2. Must have valid vehicle business insurance.
3. Previous supervisory experience in leading a team.
4. Understanding of the coaching approach.
5. Experience of working with multiple disadvantaged service users and understanding of issues they may face.
6. Working knowledge of the welfare benefit system
7. Awareness of safeguarding and relevant actions required in line with safeguarding policies.
8. Experience in being able to de-escalate challenging situations.
9. Experience of working with multi-disciplinary agencies specialising in supporting multiple disadvantaged service users.
10. Demonstrate the ability to work within psychologically informed environments and with trauma-informed support.
