Health and Safety Officer Job Overview
* Ensure compliance with H&S legislation, regulations, and company policies across all projects.
* Site Inspections & Audits: Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments, providing detailed reports on findings and improvements.
* Work closely with managers to investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert H&S advice to employees, managers, and directors, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
* Training & Awareness: Support site managers with inductions, toolbox talks, and specialist training, ensuring staff are informed and engaged.
* Track and report on H&S performance, accident frequency rates, and compliance statistics, driving data-led improvements.
* Ensure subcontractors, plant, and equipment meet all H&S standards and client requirements.
Health and Safety Officer Job Requirements
* NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar H&S role within civil engineering, construction, or rail sectors.
* Strong knowledge of risk assessments, auditing, and H&S regulatory frameworks.
* Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and travel nationwide for site visits and inspections.
* Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
