Moore Kingston Smith St Albans office is a Hospitality Centre of Excellence. Our client base is made up of a range of SMEs and includes manufacturers, a wide range of professional service firms, IT developers, but the fast majority of our clients run businesses within the hospitality sector. Due to continued growth in the last 2 years, we are looking for a full-time Payroll Advisor to join our hospitality payroll team.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a positive, organised and detail-oriented person who manages their time effectively and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong IT skills & some basic payroll experience are required; however, all in-house systems training will be provided. You will be in direct contact with clients face-to-face, over the phone/video meetings, and via email; therefore, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Sustainable Success
* Accurate data entry into Payroll database of sensitive and confidential client information in a timely manner in order to process payroll efficiently.
* Maintain master payroll records for Real Time Information purposes.
* Deal with client enquiries in relation to payroll, benefits, and expenses.
* Upload pension files to the relevant providers.
* Complete payroll journals.
* Processing payrolls from start to finish.
* Making employee payments via BACS.
* Checking payroll deductions.
* Process auto enrolment, student loan deductions, and maternity pay calculations.
* Issuing P45s and P60s.
* Complete and submission of year-end payroll returns.
* Set up of new employees.
* Liaise with clients.

* Build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external clients.
* Act as a mentor/buddy for any new members of the team and/or payroll apprentices, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

* Communicate effectively with clients, addressing any queries in a timely manner.
* Regularly gather and act on client feedback to improve the payroll service, ensuring that our clients are always at the core of our operations.

* Liaise with HMRC and our software provider to resolve issues, embodying our one firm philosophy through strong partnerships.
* Foster strong relationships with external partners like HMRC and software providers, ensuring seamless operations and problem resolution.
* Serve as a technical advisor within payroll, keeping up to date with changes in legislation to ensure compliance and inform strategy.
* Assist with the implementation of new payroll technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy, driving intelligent innovation within the firm.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Proven background and experience of working in a client-driven professional environment.
* Star payroll system experience (essential).
* Intermediate/Expert MS Excel Skills.
* Professional and confident with a can-do attitude with the ability to forge professional relationships.
* A confident communicator, able to deal comfortably with staff and clients at all levels, both internally and externally.
* Excellent administrative and organisational skills with an ability to progress several tasks simultaneously.
* Can prioritise workload and maintain effective systems.
* Strong team-oriented approach, with flexibility regarding tasks undertaken and hours worked.
