As Technical Officer you will support the Technical Manager to ensure appropriate controls and processes are in place to deliver technical requirements for customers, food safety, and ethical and legal requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
* Maintain a pool of internal auditors working on a yearly audit plan to ensure that the business is BRC audit ready and corrective actions are implemented.
* Responsible for Food Safety Management to ensure product quality standards are understood, met, and communicated.
* Effectively manage QMS ensuring documentation is in place reflecting business operations and is regularly reviewed, this includes working with the wider business to ensure they understand the requirements needed and how to make change if needed.
* Establish and enforce quality control procedures throughout the food production processes and warehouse, from raw materials to finished products.
* Support with the development and implementation of the CSR strategies.
* Develop policies relating to the ethical and sustainable business requirements.
* Implement and manage a robust customer complaint and product NCR system, ensuring complaints are dealt with in a timely manner and findings are reported back to the customer and/or internal colleagues.
* Support with the management of HACCP processes across the business to ensure base standards are in place and adhered to in order to meet food safety, legal and quality requirements.
* Ensure NPD own brand HACCP requirements are written and recorded.
* Provide technical expertise to improve own brand NPD and manufacturing processes.
* Write, implement, and manage Microbiological & Chemistry management System ensuring food safety requirements are adhered to, ensuring all testing is carried out in a clearly defined timeframe.
* Identify gaps in technical knowledge or process and actively work to train team members.
* Active team member of Health & Safety Committee.
* Support with the implementation of a new technical platform working with the wider business.
* Ensuring suppliers are audited and reviewed in line with the set calendar and targets.
The successful candidate will have:
* Food Safety and HACCP level 3.
* Ideally from a fresh produce background.
* Comprehensive understanding of legal, ethical, and technical process requirements to ensure food safety, environmental standards, legality, and customer requirements are met.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills.
* Ability to influence at all levels.
* First-class relationship building skills along with good planning and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to identify errors to raise standards and quality to achieve continuous improvement.
