Job Title: Degree Apprentice Software Engineering
What You’ll Be Doing
A Software Engineering Degree apprenticeship involves working alongside experienced and outstanding software engineers. It combines spending typically two days a week at University (3rd year spent full-time at University), where you will acquire an Honours Degree, with time working on real projects, enhancing the skills necessary to develop a long career in the industry. Through this combination of academic study and real work experience, you will become a software engineer capable of writing requirements, designs, software code, and tests. The work placement element of the course involves a wide range of activities, for example: developing and testing aircraft displays, producing ground-based equipment, or the latest training simulators.
Please note you must not book any annual leave within the first 3 months of your apprenticeship. Following this, leave will be considered depending on the individual training delivery schedule and must be approved by your line manager.
What Qualification Will You Get?
By the end of the apprenticeship you will obtain:
BSc (Hons) in Aerospace Software Engineering or Computer Science.

Export Control / Security
Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
Qualification Requirements
* 5 GCSE A*-C or 9-4 (or equivalent) Including Maths, English & Science or Technical Subject
* A minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff Points (240 point old system), through achievement of 3 A-levels at grade C or above including Maths, Science or a technical subject, or equivalent (excluding UCAS points gained at AS level)
