To lead and support the Warehouse team, ensure inbound and outbound timescales and productivity targets are met and all KBS information is correctly input. Key contact between Operations Manager and Warehouse Team and responsible for day-to-day operational activities including intake, outloading, storage of goods, yard work and transport.
People Management
Accountable for managing the Warehouse team providing training and driving their performance and development.
Key accountabilities & responsibilities:
1. Ensure Health & Safety is of the highest priority within the area and across the site.
2. Cultivate and drive a safe working culture within the area.
3. Plan, organise and implement future in/outbound transport, warehouse capacity, labour resource & labour skills.
4. Liaise with suppliers and customers to ensure controlled patterns of inbound and outbound haulage.
5. Manage the use of hauliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring vehicles and drivers comply with site rules.
6. Manage the use of couriers and haulage companies for uncontracted transport of goods.
7. Ensure transport booking processes are controlled.
8. Organise the recruitment and training of staff as well as monitoring staff performance and progress ensuring all necessary actions are taken to drive a culture and work ethic in line with the company vision.
9. Formally appraise individual and team performance in line with company expectations.
10. Encourage and motivate teams to make the best use of their abilities.
11. Initiate and drive good working practice through the effective use of Key Performance Indicators and report to the business.
12. Ensure that all inbound and outbound deadlines are achieved.
13. Effectively manage budgets.
14. Drive daily/weekly meetings with the teams.
15. Ensure labelling in warehouse follows correct procedures.
16. Ensure MHE is used correctly by trained staff only and all procedures are followed.
17. Ensure goods are stored in correct temperature regimes and is used as directed by allocations team or QC team.
18. Ensure the packhouse is kept supplied with product and production is not held up.
19. Record all product movements and activities through the KBS system.
20. Responsible for accurate and timely pick and despatch of orders.
21. Make sure all areas are clean and tidy.
22. KBS2 is accurately operated on all inbound and outbound pallets.
23. Ensure communications board is updated on a daily basis.
24. All vehicles are loaded & unloaded on time in full.
Key skills and knowledge required:
1. Qualification in Supply chain management desirable but not essential.
2. Qualification in transport, distribution or logistics desirable but not essential.
3. Excellent leadership skills and ability to manage staff effectively and decisively.
4. The ability to inspire, motivate and lead a team of people.
5. Previous experience of a FMCG environment and in depth understanding of high pressure warehousing operation.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Excellent decision making and problem solving skills.
8. Proven experience as a Warehouse manager.
9. Strong understanding of KPI's.
10. Essential English language skills.
11. Knowledge of UK/European Health & Safety regulations.
12. Knowledge of UK/European Food Hygiene regulations.
13. Excellent organisational skills.
14. Ability to motivate and manage people.
15. Customer Focused.
16. Team Player.
