Job Responsibilities The following are the core responsibilities of the healthcare assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: Successfully assist in running our new dermatology service. - Welcoming patients and preparing them for their dermatology appointments - Taking high quality photos of the patients skin conditions as per clinical guidelines - Sending the photos to the assigned clinician for evaluation - Informing patients, they will be contacted by the service with their results - Assisting with scheduling, recording keeping and other administrative tasks as needed related to the service. Phlebotomy / venepuncture, including when trained taking blood from under 12s Carrying out home visits for phlebotomy Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately Routine BP monitoring / Hypertension checks Urinalysis Act as a chaperone as required Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
