A trusted partner to organisations operating in the private and public sectors is seeking a Fire & Security Installation and Commissioning Engineer to carry out installation and commissioning works across all aspects of security systems. You will be covering the whole of the UK apart from London, and a company vehicle will be supplied.
The role requires some works to be undertaken out of normal working hours on sites across the country, which may involve overnight accommodation. Currently, 50% of the work will be night work Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts, and 50% of the work will be Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts. You must be able to cover both shifts as and when required.
Duties:
1. Understand detailed drawings and specifications to identify and implement a plan of works.
2. First and second fix of equipment and materials into commercial and industrial premises.
3. Installation and commissioning for fire alarm and security systems equipment.
4. Document completed work, including materials used, locations, and compliance requirements.
5. Identify any areas that are non-compliant.
6. Work closely with contractors, other engineers, site supervisors, and project managers to deliver the proposed installation and commissioning works within the proposed time frame.
7. Have a thorough understanding of British Standards and knowledge of various equipment and systems.
8. Report any variations from the original brief back to the Project/Contracts Manager.
Requirements:
1. Understanding of BS(Apply online only) Part 1, BS7671, BS8243:2021.
2. Prior experience in the fire and security industry.
3. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
4. FIRAS - approved operative.
5. Experience on live buildings and working within the public sector.
6. Recent FIA accreditation and courses - Minimum Foundation Course Completed.
7. DBS certification (essential and will be undertaken as part of the vetting process). BS7858 screening to be conducted.
8. ECS / CSCS valid certificate holder.
9. Beneficial certifications: IPAF or similar qualifications.
10. Industry-based system and equipment training beneficial.
11. Full (clean) UK driving license.
