Role Overview As an Instructor in Supported Learning, you will work closely with students with Severe and Moderate Learning Difficulties (SLD/MLD), helping them develop essential skills for adulthood and employment. You will deliver engaging lessons, provide one-to-one support, and work collaboratively with support staff to create an inclusive learning environment. This role requires a flexible and positive approach, strong teamwork, and problem-solving skills to adapt to the changing needs of students and colleagues. The successful candidate must have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and be able to demonstrate an understanding of their individual learning requirements. A minimum of Level 2 English and Maths is essential, along with a Level 3 teaching qualification. Additional training in epilepsy, including administering emergency medication, will be required as part of this role. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging and accessible learning sessions tailored to students’ individual needs. Provide pastoral support to learners, fostering confidence and independence. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate a range of learning styles and abilities. Work closely with support staff, families, and external agencies to ensure student success. Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Uphold safeguarding and equality policies in line with college standards. Required Qualifications & Experience Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). A Level 3 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one). Minimum of Level 2 English and Maths. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A supportive and patient approach to teaching and mentoring. Ability to adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to support diverse learners. Willingness to undergo epilepsy training, including administering emergency medication.
