You will lead initiatives to advance UK policies supporting road transport decarbonisation. Your work will span various topics including light and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles, charging, and taxation. Based in our London office with occasional travel to Brussels, you’ll report directly to the UK Director.
Working with the director of the UK office, Brussels-based teams, as well as T&E’s network of national offices and members, principal duties and responsibilities of the position will involve:
1. Lead and develop T&E’s vehicle policy work in the UK, focusing on driving the shift to sustainable electro mobility through policy reform.
2. Build on existing relationships with the UK government.

4. Draft policy papers (including defining T&E UK’s positions), develop sharp policy narratives, prepare and deliver presentations, organise and participate in public meetings with policy and wider stakeholders, and provide feedback to relevant consultations.
5. Build on existing networks and informal coalitions with key industry players as well as the wider business community interested in decarbonising road transport in the UK.
6. Coordinate activities with other think tanks and civil society organisations working on decarbonising the automotive industry.
7. Work together with the UK comms lead to respond to and lead on generating media and social media interest in clean mobility policies and opportunities.
8. Monitor and influence relevant parliamentary activity, track parliamentary debates, hearings, and other relevant activities, ensuring T&E’s expertise and positions are effectively represented through timely input and strategic engagement.
9. Work closely with team members to organize and host impactful events that effectively communicate T&E's mission, engage stakeholders, and drive meaningful outcomes.
What We’re Looking For:
1. More than five years of relevant professional experience and the ability and motivation to learn about the electromobility sector.
2. Proven track record of developing and writing policy positions and implementing advocacy strategies leading to lasting change.
3. Have the attitude and communication skills to advocate effectively with policymakers and industry.
4. Is technically savvy and has experience in developing and writing policy briefings and analysis aimed at high-level decision-makers. Can take complex data and translate it into concrete policy and regulatory initiatives.
5. The confidence to think and act with initiative, to engage and influence policymakers of different stripes, industry representatives, and other stakeholders at the highest level.
6. Project management, strong interpersonal and team-working skills, and an ability to deliver to tight deadlines with independence. Proven ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
7. Management experience would be beneficial but not essential.

The position is based in our UK office in London, with opportunities for home working. A minimum of two days per week in the office is required, and the ideal candidate should be flexible to attend external meetings and events as required.
