Job Purpose
The Commercial Media Officer (CMO) is responsible for processing inquiries to undertake commercial media activities, such as commercial filming/photography or licensing the use of TfL's Intellectual Property (IP) relating to commercial filming/photography, and for securing the necessary approvals in-line with TfL standards and procedures. The CMO will facilitate and supervise commercial filming/photography across TfL's estates, process requests to use TfL's IP, and investigate and action unauthorised use of TfL's IP which includes filming/photography. The CMO needs to work collaboratively with operational colleagues and be accountable for ensuring that all filming and photography activities are undertaken safely and do not detrimentally impact TfL customers or services.
Key Accountabilities
1. Supervise commercial filming activities on-site, ensuring that contractual requirements are upheld, that activities are delivered safely, and that TfL’s Standards are adhered to.
2. The CMO needs to be able to work with external clients and stakeholders to provide fair and consistent customer experience and look for continuous improvement opportunities to deliver activities in a streamlined and efficient manner.
3. Process enquiries to set-up and deliver commercial media initiatives (such as commercial filming and photography, and intellectual property and copyright enquiries using TfL’s branding and registered copyright), implement contracts and licences, agree the cost of the activity using the rate-card.
4. Monitor for, and action, any reports of unauthorised use of TfL intellectual property or copyright, working in conjunction with TfL Legal, Commercial Partnerships, Brand Licensing teams and TfL's media partners.
5. Research new and interesting activities and create new revenue generation opportunities associated with commercial filming/photography to generate income.
6. Calculate and raise invoices, maintain financial records, and contribute to the development of revenue forecasts.
7. Maintain accurate records within TfL's CRM system and make full use of the system for communication, targeted sales and reporting purposes.
8. This is a revenue-generating role and the CMO is expected to contribute to the £1m Film Office revenue target (2024/2025).
Key Interfaces
1. Production companies & 3rd Party Suppliers: reviewing scripts/storyboards, providing account management and guidance to ensure IP charges are implemented and film/photography sets are compliant.
2. Commercial Media, Commercial Partnerships, Brand Licensing & Events Teams: maximising cross-selling opportunities and processing requests for graphics, artwork, props, fonts, set-dressing and to action licensing/IP infringements.
3. Operational stakeholders: to obtain permissions and arrange logistics for film/photography activities.
4. Legal team (and other subject matter experts): to action copyright/trademark/right of publicity infringements and to draft licences/contracts.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Skills
* Organised & Proactive: Ability to process and deliver multiple film/photography enquiries simultaneously and manage the related IP/Copyright inbox.

* Stakeholder management: Ability to work effectively with external stakeholders and supervise film/photography activities.
* Commercial Acumen: Inquisitive, innovative, and capable of researching new ways to generate revenue for the Film Office.
Knowledge
* Assurance & Standards: An understanding of TfL’s standards and assurance requirements.
* Networks: possess the ability to build trust and leverage new relationships.
* Intellectual Property & Copyright: knowledge of managing intellectual property and implementing licence agreements.
* Understanding of post-production processes.
* Knowledge of digital media software such as Adobe; After Effects, Premier Pro, Photoshop, & Illustrator.
Experience
* Significant experience in the project management of events, activities or physical installations within LU stations or an equivalent regulated environment.
* Experience in account management of external stakeholders and organisations.
* Some experience in the management of licence agreements.
* Some experience in managing an intellectual property portfolio.
* Experience of overcoming constraints and organisational complexity to deliver results.
* Experience of working with commercial partners to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
