We are looking for a Team Manager to join our large busy team in Exeter to provide operational leadership for Liaison Psychiatry.
You will become part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, using your skills, experience and leadership to help support the team to deliver a high level of care to people requiring mental health care within the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital.
The role is fast-paced, unique and challenging, and we are looking for someone who is highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic who can demonstrate an eagerness for the ongoing development of the service.
Liaison Psychiatry specialises in the interface between medicine and psychiatry. As a Team Manager, you will need excellent communication and leadership skills to ensure effective collaborative working with acute colleagues in the hospital.
You will have the confidence and skills to support your team to respond to a variety of referrals. You will support them to think holistically in relation to the physical and mental health needs of patients. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate sound experience of risk assessment and management and will be committed to the principles of patient and carer involvement, as well as showing expertise in budgetary management and understanding and meeting of key performance criteria.
The role is office-based in Wonford House with clinical work occurring in the RD&E.
We offer a relocation package of up to £8k - see attached information.
Main duties of the job
Liaison Psychiatry accepts referrals from the RD&E hospital via the inpatient wards and emergency department. These include requests for specialist mental health assessment and interventions to people aged 18 to end of life. The mental health presentations of those accessing our services are varied and include self-harm as well as functional and organic mental illness.
We provide a 7-day per week in-and-out-of-hours comprehensive service to patients, clinicians and carers.
We are seeking a visionary and motivated individual to join us at this exciting time, promoting dynamic and innovative ways of working. You need to be a Registered Professional with post-registration experience, including experience in a Band 7 position. We will offer you development opportunities alongside the support of a well-established MDT.
You will have a key role in contributing to the leadership of the service and you will provide line management supervision as well as overseeing all operational aspects within the team. The role will have a clinical component alongside operational management.
You will need experience in clinical practice, supervision and operational line management, including HR processes. Working with other agencies, as part of the wider MDT is a vital aspect of this role. You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable who is able to prioritise tasks, manage your own workload, supporting colleagues as required.
