The Land Safety Engineering Team supports both military and commercial sector projects. These include critical military vehicle and equipment acquisitions projects, mid-life improvement and training simulator projects of significance to the UK Army capability. The requirement for new and innovative technologies such as electric drives, autonomous and robotic systems needs individuals from diverse backgrounds to support the creation of robust Safety Cases for use of this equipment in an ever-changing environment.
The Role
As a Senior Safety Engineer, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will provide land systems safety engineering skills and advice to external and internal clients and assist in the development of business growth. You will use your safety engineering expertise to deliver defined artefacts in support of projects to our clients, as well as using your analytical skills to examine evidence to support a safety argument. Ability in the use of safety engineering tools and techniques together with excellent report writing skills is essential for the delivery of output.
Day-to-day, you will:
* Lead safety projects to ensure that work tasks are delivered to the specified time, cost, and required quality standards
* Support the provision of solutions to problems that are defensible, auditable and which will meet customers’ expectations and needs
* Provide support to time estimates and wording for inputs to bids
* Ensure that all work performed is consistent with QinetiQ Compliancy Procedures
* Support and develop potential business opportunities within the existing and potential customer base
* Support effective technical networks with Land Systems customers
This role is a full-time position based at our Farnborough site on a hybrid basis. Please note you must be prepared to travel within the UK, often to remote sites, to meet customer and internal business needs.
Essential experience of the Safety Engineer:
* Knowledge and experience working in a similar role within the regulatory organisations
Qualifications for the Safety Engineer:
* Engineering degree or equivalent
