Enjoy the break, we’ll get back to you in the new year Head of Product London (Hybrid, 40% in office) £Salary Bonus Shares Benefits As Head of Product for the Platform at Trainline, you will set the strategic vision, shape the product roadmap, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Architecture, and Product teams to ensure the core technology stack meets the performance, reliability, and scalability needs of the business. You’ll oversee a portfolio of squads dedicated to enabling frictionless customer experiences and a productive developer environment, helping others experiment, innovate, and deliver world-class digital products. In doing so, you will balance immediate operational responsibilities—like managing one squad’s day-to-day—while providing strategic guidance to multiple other squads and their Product Managers. In this role, you’ll champion a data-driven, outcome-focused approach, establishing and tracking KPIs and OKRs related to platform health, cost efficiency, and developer productivity, such as Reliability, Speed, Maintenance, Security, Cost Efficiency, and Productivity. You’ll represent the “voice of the platform” in high-level decision making, shaping medium- to long-term strategies, and working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional partners. With your combination of commercial acumen, technical understanding, and product leadership, you will influence the future direction of Trainline’s platform to drive sustained growth, high-quality customer experiences, and effective product delivery at scale. This role has overall responsibility for 7 squads, including direct management for the day-to-day operation and roadmap of 1 squad (e-commerce). In addition, line management for 3 Product Managers across the Platform, including Core App and Web tech, Cloud Native development, Customer and Identity teams. The Platform team sits within the “Future of Rail” strategic theme and supports all customer propositions across our B2C and B2B businesses. Key partnerships in this role are with the Platform Head of Engineering and the Architects to set vision, quarterly OKRs, and prioritise delivery outcomes for this area to achieve overall company goals. It is also imperative to have strong relationships with Product counterparts across Trainline to agree ways of working to optimize towards company goals and ensure alignment.
